My love for animals began at quite a young age. For as long as I can remember I have always been drawn to animals and my dream as a child was to someday work with them. Growing up, I’ve always had pets so I’m guessing that’s what truly sparked my passion. One of my favorite television channels was Animal Planet; I could watch the variety of shows it offered for countless hours, and I learned so much that I became quite confident in the knowledge that I had acquired over the years. I was always that one kid who corrected someone who mistook a crocodile for an alligator and would explain the differences…I might have come across as a know-it-all but I had good intentions, I swear!
Although my dreams have changed and working with animals is no longer a career that I see myself in, I still hold a special place in my heart for some of God’s greatest creations. Animals add such beauty and diversity to this world and I am so grateful to live on a planet where these creatures thrive and flourish.
Fun Fact: To this day, I still own my collection of Zoobooks and cherish them dearly. Did anyone else collect Zoobooks? If you’re not sure what Zoobooks are, it’s a children’s magazine subscription which was established in 1980. I never really received letters as a kid so when I got that new Zoobook in the mailbox, I could hardly contain my excitement and joy. I will always treasure that memory and I hope to someday encourage my future children to learn everything they can about the animals that share this planet with us.
