Reading has been a life-long passion of mine. I remember being read to as a child and now cherish those precious memories. I have always been a fast reader for as long as I can remember, so I had to learn to be patient until I was allowed to buy another book. My favorite books growing up were the Goosebumps series by R.L. Stine, The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis and the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. I typically gravitated towards fantasy as a child and I think those books heavily influenced my very creative imagination. I love creating worlds and characters to live in them, with their own stories to tell. Most of my childhood was spent with my friends creating our own versions of Fanfiction by creating our own original characters that would integrate themselves into already existing stories and those were truly some of my favorite memories growing up.
Writing on the other hand was a recent discovery. It’s funny because although I was creating characters and worlds in my mind, I never once thought “hmm, maybe I should write this down”. It wasn’t until 2016 that I really invested my time and energy into this new-found passion of mine. I was finally able to put all of the stories that I had created into words and it felt like such a relief, like I was getting something off of my chest after holding it in for years. Once I started writing everything down, new ideas kept popping up and before I knew it I had started my very first manuscript. I’ve also gotten into writing Fanfiction, and honestly…I never expected to have so much fun doing it! I like to take blank characters that don’t really have personalities (Example: Pokémon video game protagonists) and create brand new characters and story-lines. I also do my best to stay true to the canon story, with a few exceptions here and there. If you want to read more about my writing, click on the “My Writing Journey” tab in the main menu.
